Why don`t the government make this a national holiday?
With St Georges Day virtually ignored by every council in Britain for fear of upsetting the foreigners and the talked about Britain Day which looks like a non starter surely a Remembrance Day Holiday would be a good idea?
I remember posting a thread about this very same thing -it was regarding a petition to the Government.
I'll see if I can find it and you'll see that there were a few conflicting posts re dates and other issues however it was as I recall a very interesting debate.
This agressive promotion of the 11th of November by the government looks to be a neat way that they can hide their shame about Iraq and Afganistan including them with the patriotic self sacrifices of the past.
Sadly in less than a decades time the youngs 18 year old of 1945 will be 91. So the bulk of those heros will be gone soon enough.

Most were in favour but a date in June seemed to the most popular -I have to shoot off to work but im sure that someone else will remember the significance of the June date -havent time to google.
BTW -yes I do think there should be a day ro reflect and commerarate our great and good -instead of just a random BH for no reason.
