Great news isn't it puddicat, I'm only in a small town, and our Poppy Organiser banked over 1,000 yesterday, and still to go in are the collections from the shops, Banks etc.
Its a shame its taken more deaths and injuries to our Armed Servicemen and Women to wake people up to the work the Legion does, and hopefully, as a result, more people will join, so as you point out, at least some good will come fromm them.

puddi -I remember I was 22 when I heard the Falklands War was over and I can assure you I was ecstatic.I know you were involved in that conflict but let me reassure you that we thought of all the personnel there as much as we have done in past conflicts/wars and now the present.
My cousin was the youngest serving member in the Gulf War (more his age came after him) and I remember crying when I was driving into work when the airstrikes were announced -I fretted so much for him.
I wouldnt like you or anyone to cherry pick one conflict as different from any other as it simply isnt true -theres grieving families and victims all over the world who would stand testimony to that.

Lets face it, we all have relatives who still remember the second ww, even if they were children at that time, and we probably all had relatives that were involved in the first, those wars, as in the Korean, Malaya, South Arabia (me), Oman (me),Falklands, Ireland (Me *3), Afghanistan and Iraq, have all left Grieving families and forces personel greviously wounded, physically and mentally.
These are the people the British Legion help in one way or t'other.
As for the Poppies for the fallen, those brave souls, voluntarily or conscripted, gave their lives for the freedoms we have today.
puddicat, thanks for putting this post up, Marvellous.

Sorry puddi -but you have posted a couple of times much along the lines of the Falkland Veterans are the forgotten ones -and you know you have.
All I was saying was that you would be very surprised if you were in -say my position how much the 'ordinary' citizen appreciates everything our service Personel have given and continue to do to in order to stop more mayhem in this world.
Thats the reason why I said 'cherry' picked-as I havent ever been directly involved in any conflict so unlike yourself I am not in a position to have a strong opinion -I merely speak as the 'man' on the street to assure you that you and everyone who have chosen to serve us in warzones are very much appreciated and you should be proud of yourself.xx
Lonnie -I agree 100% -I was going to mention the 'innocent' victim but hey all victims are 'innocent' -mere pawns but so long as they know that they are hereos and very much appreciated for their courage in in our hearts.
