Changing Video Format
18 Answers
WMMP (Windows Movie Maker Project) to another video format - how can I do this?
More recently I've been creating 'movies' on Windows Movie Maker - easy for me. However, I want to add them to Facebook (and some on Youtube) but it doesn't let me.
For Facebook, it doesn't recognise the file so I need to change it...but how? If you can, can you tell me a few online video format changing sites (I prefer to do it online than download something for the purpose).
And for Youtube, it says it's processing it and I understand it can be a lengthy process, but a month is too much and I know there's something wrong...possibly the type of file. Same as previous, any online video editing to change its file format?
Thanks

I used your advice rojash but it won't let me
It says "Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again."
Now what do I do? All the files involved in the 'project' still exist, I'm saving it My Documents (tried My Videos but same reply came up), and I have plenty of space available.
Why do these things have to be so complicated and stupid!?! ARGGHHH!!!!!!!

Sorry, I'm a bit stumped.
Basically a Windows Movie Maker file contains a list of clips, and some instructions on what to do with them, how to transition between them, etc. This is why you can't upload it to a movie site - it's not a movie; it's a recipe for a movie.
When you click "Save Movie" the program accesses the orginal clips and renders them along with any transitions, effects etc, into a movie file.
Are you certain that the clips that you have specified are still there in the locations they were in at the time that you added them to the project?
Try creating a new project, add a single clip, don't add any transitions or effects. Doe it allow you to save that as a a movie?

Alternatively, you could try using a different video editor. This one is free:

You're trying to convert a photo into a movie?
Windows Movie Maker and Videopad are for assembling movies from video clips, so I'm not surprised!
For making a slide show, you need something like this:

(It's free)

So that's where I was going wrong! Oh right
Yeah it's photos I'm using, as well as audio
Unfortunately I don't really like that slide show creator because it was too fiddly for my liking and it was troublesome in putting music in (none of my music came up and it's probably due to the fact that it can't read the format)
I'll have a scout about for some slide show creators (does an online slide show creator exist?)

Ahh that's a better slide show creator but Facebook still can't read it. It said:
Sorry, that's not a video file format that we support. We currently only support the following extensions:
* 3g2 (Mobile Video)
* 3gp (Mobile Video)
* 3gpp (Mobile Video)
* asf (Windows Media Video)
* avi (AVI Video)
* flv (Flash Video)
* m4v (MPEG-4 Video)
* mkv (Matroska Format)
* mov (QuickTime Movie)
* mp4 (MPEG-4 Video)
* mpe (MPEG Video)
* mpeg (MPEG Video)
* mpeg4 (MPEG-4 Video)
* mpg (MPEG Video)
* nsv (Nullsoft Video)
* ogm (Ogg Format)
* qt (QuickTime Movie)
* vob (DVD Video)
* wmv (Windows Media Video)
It always has to take files in which aren't mine..I know it's a slide show but it shouldn't have the atrocity of making me convert it into a file just to publicise.

I'm not sure what you mean by this - the whole point of all these programs is that you give them some pictures and instructions, tell them what format you want the result in, then they produce it for you. That's the way the world works.
