With more drunk and drugged people walking around we are all at risk of being attacked by someone.
I went to my local Sainsburys the other day to drop of my recycling stuff (tins, plastic etc)
Nearby was a "yob" who had a few cans a larger, and was swilling them down.
Nearby him was a nasty looking dog (off its lead).
As I got out my car the guy finished a can and just threw it in the bushes.
To be honest I was scared to walk past him, and the dog, to get to the recycle bins, so left the car park and went to another recycle centre nearby.
It is a sad state of affairs when scum like that are allowed to behave like that and frighten ordinairy people who just want to get on with their lives.
I am afraid it is all linked the the degeneration of British society.
And before anyone asks, I did not phone the police as the likelyhood of them getting there in less than 3 days (if at all) made it a waste of time.

See there you go anotheoldegit- second post and someone accusing me of hating people! Do yo u see exactly what i mean! I was born and bred in Scotland but now live in England with my English girlfriend and a lot of my family are english so harbour no hatred to anyone!

I am English and have a great fondness for Scotland. I have never been made to feel unwelcome or uncomfortable during any of my stays all over Scotland.
This sort of yobbery happens everywhere and is just an excuse for lashing out. Somebody has the wrong accent, the wrong football scarf, the wrong colour skin, the wrong trainers......
I was very saddened to read this story the other day, and I heard this victim on the Jeremy Vine show yesterday. She is showing great fortitude and I hope she makes a full recovery.
I was confused because this victim speaks with a very definite Scottish accent - unless she is known to her attacker she would not be thought of as English. She states that some words she pronounces in the English way but she wasn't in conversation with this man who was passing by
Racism is a very real evil in this world but I really do believe in many cases it is used as an excuse or explanation for plain bad behaviour.

Why are people referring to this as racism? Scottish and English people are from the same race.
Everyone involved is Caucasian, so this is surely a case of nationalism rather than racism.
But leaving that aside, this is a cowardly attack I hope when the culprits are caught and convicted, they're slapped hard enough to show others that this kind of behaviour is abhorrent to most right thinking people.
Scum.

Oh dear sp1814, you've well and truly fallen into the trap. You don't think it's racism do you? As the article says, what if the woman in question had been black and the assailant had said 'get back to Africa'. You would be twenty feet up on your high horse playing the race card.
You are pathetic with your double standards.

It's not racism - 'English' isn't a race. But nationalism is equally deplorable and it's right that the writer of the article makes that point. So settle down.
Can we all just agree that all racism is wrong and should be condemned? Why is that whenever it's pointed out some booming troll has to point out that it also happens the other way round? As if that's some form of justification.
Does every mention of racism need a 'This also happen to white people' disclaimer? I'll promise to include one if you think you need it. Just say the word.
