Need a song title

heard this song a good many years ago, and I can't for the life of me remember its title. I've tried countless internet searches in hopes of finding it over the years and I've failed every time. I think it was from the 50's or 60's and it was sung by a guy. It went something like: "there's a ring in a box by my window, its been there a long long time, reminding me of (another or a younger) love, I was not even (something?)" I know its not much, but I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
