does anybody out there, know what the word soul stands for, I think I know but  I need confirmation.

What do you mean, what does it stand for? I just presumed it was soul music, as in, music from the soul.

thanks georgit but I was always led to beleive that it stands for, SONGS OF UNITY AND LOVE.

Cheers topman.  I am with georgit, it originates from gospel singing, which is I guess basically singing songs of unity and love.  Could read it either way, but I haven't heard/used the acronym before.
