Why do people on CB bother getting more than one user name?

Seriously. Why get multiple user names?

I find it not only sad, but, kind of worrying.

At the end of the day we all know this is a forum, right?

So, why get more than one 'persona' and why go to the effort of signing up twice?

We all know that certain people have loads of accounts, but other than the fact that they're clearly not very intelligent, why bother?

I'm not being funny, I'd just really like to know, perhaps an honest answer?

Do you have any examples? I know only of knobby and legolard who run numerous accounts, and I have emailed the ED on many occasions. I think they are allowed to do it because they are mentally disadvantaged and the ED is being kind to them.

you could actually hear someone instead of hiding behind a key board, and sometimes we actually met up for a laugh(these where called eye balls)

A lot of people have a back-up name because a while ago users would get 'zapped' because of problems with the site. There was a weekend several months ago when a huge number of us on CB were using back-up names because the site went haywire. Most names were easily recognisable as they were similar to users accepted names on here.

If you are going to have a backup name then it needs to be similar to your normal name, but if you want to creep up behind someone and shout BOO! then there is no point doing it as Gormless1 because everybody knows who you ae and it loses all effect.

When I can't post as Crazycathy I use crazycathy2 or catthythe crazy - some days I can use 1 the next day I can't but 2 days later I can use it again. I think it is the site.
