Peer to Peer File Sharing

I'm using WinMX for the first time. Does downloading cost me anything at all? I'm worried WinMX will dial up a premium number.

I've been using winmx for years. If you are paying by the minute for a dial up internet connection then you will only pay for the time it takes you to download (time spent online). There are no charges for downloading the songs themselves.. you are getting them from other internet users like yourself. It is advisable when downloading anything off the intenet to scan things for viruses before opening them. Remember, people can have a virus on their pc without being aware of it. You can get free anti-virus software from www.grisoft.com called AVG which I have use for years and would recommend to anyone.

Are you using a dial-up for P2P? That sounds awful expensive. not to mention slow. I would get broadband as soon as possible if you are going to continue this foolhardyishness.

dial up will be slow not necessarily expensive if he/she is on monthly contract.

Thanks for your replies people. I'm still using Dial up and I pay montly for my Internet access. I agree it is very slow but I'm not a heavy downloader so it serve my needs quite well for the moment :-)
