Can anyone tell me who sings a song called, Kaylee. I believe that's the title. It maybe be spelled different. The lyrics go, Kaylee, I just want to say I'm sorry, but Kaylee I'm to scared to pick up the phone.  Also,....why did it come to this bitter end. I thought I heard once that a band called  Vermillion sings it, but I've had no luck with that on web searches. Thanks in advance

It's by Marillion and it's called Kayleigh.

It is Marillion. They were truly terrible.

Kayleigh was of course from their "sod the arty-farty prog rock stuff, WE NEED A HIT!!!" period :O) Far less heavy-going than a lot of their stuff.

 

The song was a hit in 1985, back in the days when they were fronted by an alarmingly tall Scotsman known as Fish. Their current singer is Steve Hogarth (as far as I know, but no doubt someone who actually cares will correct me if I'm wrong).

 

I wasn't aware they'd had a hit as recently as last month, but then I haven't taken any notice of the charts since about 1997!!
