What was the song??
19 Answers
Maybe 25/30 years ago there was a song frequently played on Radio 2 and local radio, whose title totally escapes me. It contained lyrics that sounded to me like ' 'and I'm leaving in the morning...on a blue electric loo'' !!!! Obviously those weren't the words, lol, but can anyone help. Please!!! It's driven me nutty all these years!!!
Thanks in anticipation,

Hi Cheri, have you tried 'WALKING BLUES' by Grateful Dead. It has similar lyrics as, 'I'm leaving in the moring if I have to, ..... and instead of loo - it could be blue.
Grateful Dead Walking Blues Lyrics:
Woke up this morning, felt around for my shoes
That's when I knew I had them old walking blues
I woke up this morning, felt around, felt around for my shoes
That's when I knew I had them old, mean old walking blues
Leaving in the morning if I have to, RIDE THE BLIND
I've been mistreated and I don't mind dying
I'm leaving in the morning if I have to, RIDE THE BLIND

I've been mistreated and I just don't mind dying
She got ELGIN movement from her head down to her toes
Break EVEN on a dollar 'most anywhere she goes
Well I got a good woman coming my way
Tried to try, some electric pantin', some electric chillin' cryin'
But, ooh, mistook, misgiven
Got me up and walking Baby, but I'm walking blue, walking blue
Well some people say boy, the walking blues ain't bad
It's the worst old feelin' I 'most ever had
HOPE ITS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

Cheri,
I have checked further and ascertained that someone called Even Stevens also recorded this song. It may be that it was the Stevens version which was played on the radio all those years ago.
I'm afraid I don't know where you can get a copy of either the Silverstein or the Stevens version.

Hi Mike.
Thanks yet again for all your trouble.
I've had a look for the track, but at the moment can't get a download. But it's just nice to know what the words really were after all this time!!
People thought I was mad when I spoke about it, cos no-one seemed to know the song at all!!
So again, many many thanks, and if you do ever come across the donload anywhere, I'd still appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks, big time!!

I too have been trying to track down this song - to no avail.
I think the lyrics u quote are actually correct, (I think) the rest of the verse goes,
'Hang a right at Jupiter on the far side of the moon,
And I'll stand before my elders when they ask about this place,
I'll tell them that, there ain't no room, for folks from outer space.
Radio 2 may be the best to contact to find the answer
