Billy the Kid and Jim McDaniels a newspaper man was the one that dubbed him the Kid, Pat Garrett was the one that wrote a book about him called the "The Authentic life of Billy the Kid, the Noted Desperado of the southwest etc etc. So you figure which one to use because I am not quite understanding if they are looking for the author to the book that calls him "The Deperado" or the guy who dubbed him "Billy the Kid" in 1880, Good Luck

remember that Pat G. was called a fraud on the book he wrote  .... so there is no solid proof that he even was the original man that named the Kid! Look close and you will find another that claims to have written the book.

Pat Garrett was the only name on the book though so officially he wrote it.  This clue could go with several answers.
