I got a new CD a few days ago, played it on my PC earlier and I noticed that it won't read the track details etc. I tried a few different CD's and after a few seconds it comes up with the album title, album cover artwork and all the individual track listings - it's just this 1 CD it won't read.
It plays the CD okay, but it just comes up with "unknown album" and the tracks are labelled, track 1, track 2 etc.
I even tried it in 2 different PC's - same result ..... what gives ???
Someone has suggested that it sounds like it's a dodgy copy (Bootleg perhaps), but I bought it new from what I thought was a relaible source - Play.com.

Anyone any ideas why WMP won't read the CD details ???

When you put a CD in, your player software queries a database on the internet (there's a number to choose from). If the details of the CD can't be found in the database, you won't get any info. It doesn't mean it's dodgy though - just that it's not in the database.

Thanks for that.
Anyone any ideas how to find out which data base is being used, 'cos one of my other CD's that I ripped has got the wrong artwork - it's got a cover for a completely different band and I was hoping to contact the data base to inform them, so that they might correct it.
