Getting front row seats at concerts or live events

I was wondering does anyone know any good tips when it comes to getting front row tickets for a concert or live events.In the past i have tried phoning the ticket boxoffice as soon as the tickets go on sale or have tried through the internet & have had no luck.I refuse to pay the price that people charge when selling a front row ticket on ebay.Thanxs

I think this type of ticket are generally offered to members of the fan club of whoever the artist is.  Also to competition winners and the like.

The chance of 'Joe Public' getting hold of one is very slim I would imagine.

I'd agree with sammy, the first few seats / rows / blocks etc (depending on the size of the venue) are reserved for anything from promotional freebies and music-press hacks to various glitterati, D-list celebs and meeja-hooers (sic).

That front-row ticket on e-bay for That Gig Of The Moment, probably came third-hand from some critic who couldn't be R-sed to go.

I have had front row a few times, one was "Motorhead" at Hammy Odeon. My ears rang for days after. I just got row B for Dead Can Dance at The Barbican.

I think the trick is to go to the actual venue box office a few hours before they go on sale and wait. It is not always family and friends that get front row, or competition winners. we won tgix to see The Cure at Wembley and was quite high up to the side of the stage.

Personally I do not like seated venues, I much prefer standing at gigs. you can always get fairly near.

You need to register with some of the agencies, such as CCLive ot Ticketmaster, who often sell tickets prior to the official launch date. However because a lot of people do this now, even that is becoming a lottery. The people on Ebay tend to be people with a number of PCs and modems who log on just before the tickets go on-sale and then just keep trying, increasing their odds. I only have 1 PC but have found that if you are 'ready' just before the sale starts you can normally get decent tickets.

I am a member of a fan club only to get front row tickets.  Non members / not press stand no chance.  Press get priority
