Hi,<br>Looking for a piece of kit whereby audio cassettes can be inserted and transferred to CD, via a PC, for around £30 - £40, a pressie for the boyfriend. He's seen an iON Tape2PC USB Cassette Archiver
http://www.whybuynew....assette-Archiver.html
but a bit out of my range (£65 inc. delivery), and wondered about an Instant Music Vinyl and Cassette Ripper
http://www.gizoo.co.u....htm?SPMC=TGSAFFAW001
at about £35 inc. delivery (inc. a £5 discount code I found), but I don't think you don't play the cassette from there, it plugs into a sound system.<br>Would appreciate any advice.

I am not an expert on this but i have been told you need a portable tape player thus,

http://www.amazon.co....eativeASIN=B00019MLF2

Then you need an appropriate twin jack-plug cable that connects from the ear phone socket on the player to the audio inlet of your PC. this can be obtained from a store such as Maplins.

You will also need to down load this free programme onto your computer, get the volume correct and off you go.

Perhaps before you purchase these items, I suggest you ask again on this site, telling them that you have the aforementioned items but you want to know how to use them.
Was any of my information useful?

It does help us all if we get feed back, after going to the time & trouble of trying to help others out.

Sorry, anotheoldgit, didn't realise you'd posted - I don't seem to receive the e-mails any more that tell me there's an answer, found your's by "accident". <br>Thanks for taking the time but it all started getting a bit too involved. As I'm s'posed to be the more "techie" of the 2 of us, I gave up on that idea & bought him a DVD recorder - least I know what I'm at with that !
