The reason for my request Jules is I wanted to make sure Mickey was not loosing to much or not enough calories, as I had no idea of a dogs calories.
As regard exercise he is in the garden nearly all day when not raining, as I have had quintuplicate heart by pass surgery and suffer cronic neck and back arthritis with serious breathlessness. I take him running alongside my scooter about four times per week and a young boy takes him for 1 hour twice a week and the weight still not come off even on only 120grams of special food a day.
And you ladies think you have problems!
You have my sympathies - I have a cat who is on steroids for his asthma. It gives him the munchies and he is starting to get a pot belly. I don't think that I could convince him to use a treadmill though.
I empathise. It can be hard to get them to lose weight, especially when they follow you around with big sad eyes saying 'feed me'!!. I maintain my dogs weight if they look like they have put a bit on, by cutting down on the meat and filling the bowl up with veg, but I also had a dog that was on the lean side due to a medical problem and it was a nightmare putting any weight on him.
