Mystery Song for all Sleuths out there!
Dear Sleuths,
For the last six months or so I have had this song in my head and I cannot, for the life of me, remember either the title or the artist. It's been driving me up the wall!
I obviously can't sing or even hum it to you, but I know some of the lyrics and they go something like this :
"I don't know why you are doing this ....."
"you are the angel I adore ...."
"nobody knows how much I care ...., you are my one and only love"
"you are the one who'll understand ...., the misery I'm going through"
or words to that effect and not necessarily in this order! Where the dots are, a (probably) female soprano voice comes in with "ah-ah-ah's" and this is the striking part of the song.
The refrain goes something like this :
"your love, your love is so sweet, and that's what I really need"
"your kiss is like it used to be, your tenderness is what I need"
I believe it is from the early 70's (1971 or 1972 would be my best guess as I recall it being played on the UK top twenty show by Tommy Vance round about that time). The song never made it to the top 20 otherwise it wouldn't be a mystery song to me, so perhaps it was one of those that never made it. The singer is male but it could be by a group and not a solo artist.
I tried Googling all sorts of variations of these lyrics and also searched in dozens of sites with lyrics-search engines, but to no avail.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. If I remember any more telltale info about it, I will be in touch again.
Regards, Simon.
