Am I just slow to notice or have iTunes increased their prices, particularly on newly released material? I thought it was always 79 pence per track but now I see that many are 99 pence. Quite a hike in price, something like 16%. There was a rumour some time ago that UK users were to get the same prices as in the US. That didn't happen then?

I agree, iTunes are getting greedy.
For that reason, these days I tend to look on Amazon or play.com first for mp3 downloads and use iTunes as a last resort.

The US site quotes the same prices but in $ so in reality even with the poor performance of the pound of late, they are considerably lower. Sky have just opened up a music download site (Sky Songs) but on first glance they are not very competitive (90 pence per track in general) and does not look good value.
Amazon and play.com are invariably 69 pence per track I believe, the odd one even 59 pence on play.

No brainer for me!
