Explain that you are returning to work following having a child, theres nothing wrong with that

i do but you can hear the change in thier voice its really disheartening :(
This Government does not expect a mother (in receipt of JSA) to get a job until their child is 10. It's not long been reduced to that.

There are many worthwhile skills learnt in being a parent.
Question Author
yes and i have stated that on my cv but i was told the other day that companies rarely look at the emailed cvs
Send them by post then. Or join an agency.

What did you do in the hospital?
Have you done any training whilst you have been at home with children that you could talk about? As ummmm said there are many skills from parenting that are transferrable to a workplace, budgeting, negotiation skills.
Could you take on some voluntary work whilst you are looking and then potential employers will see that you have some recent experience in the workplace?
Question Author
I worked as a salaries and wages clerk and then i was approached by head of personnel to set up a computer system with him for a while but as the hospital was being torn down my post became redundant so I left then found out i was pregnant and as they say the rest is history.

Ive also joined a few agencies im not really after going back into office work and wanted more of a driving type admin job really.
I think you'll more have luck by registering with an employment agency. All the best in finding a job, Babybop.

thanks all for your advice my guess is to keep trying fingers crossed for me eh???? hopefully it will be very soon my daughter is costing a fortune lol
babybop how many interviews have you been to - in person?
Question Author
none as yet :(
try the direct.gov website, there are lots of free training oppertunities available, some of which are actually worthwhile. You could also try applying for temp jobs which will give you some recent experience on your CV. I would also speak to someone about having your CV done proffesionally, no offence but your CV is probably a bit to honest and an independant eye may show you how to make the best of what you have. The job centre and many other agencies such as learn direct and train 2 gain will all know of free CV services in your area. It's a very competitive market out there at the moment so good luck

Secretaries are now mainly just typists so look for band 4 secretarial roles... Or at least in the hospital I work for they mainly just type before I suffer the wrath of the medical secretary...
