Gary Barlow has a similar grasp of melody and chord structure to Lennon and McCartney - the chord changes in 'Shine' are very Beatles-esque.

Mark Owen needs to get less songs and Jason and Howard more. On the album the Circus, Gary had The Circus which was amazing, Jason had How Did It Come To This which was absolutely the best on the album for me and Howard had What Is Love? which is so amazing I was speechless when I heard it, Mark had Hello which is ok
