Americas Health Reforrm please

Could one of our AB Amigos please give me a condensed version ,why there is so much opposition to President Obama Health Reform Bill.

I'm no expert, but from what I can gather from overseas forumers, his opponents fall into three groups:

i) The ones who are scared s**less of anything that smacks of socialism (socialism=communism=bad if you're an American).

ii) The insurance companies who make lots of money from the existing system, and who stand to lose when their less well-off clients go with a cheaper, national system.

ii) Those who read only the bad stuff about the NHS in the UK (and I think Canada has something similar) and assume that it's all like that.

I should add that my American cousin, ex-homeless and currently living just slightly above the poverty line, is thrilled to bits with the idea - he knows to much about British life to believe all the rubbish his politicians tell him.
