The Darts rode in on the energy of New Wave with a mix of doo-wop nostalgia combined with similar-sounding hit singles of their own. Focus of the live act, and bass vocalist was Den Hegarty, accompanied on vocals by Bob Fish, Rita Ray and Griff Fender (real name Ian Collier). Musical accompaniement was provided by Hammy Howell on piano, George Currie on guitar, Ian 'Thump' Thompson on bass. Horatio Hornblower (honestly? nah - Nigel Trubridge) on sax, and John Dummer on drums. Hegarty left in 1979, suffering increasingly debilitating bouts of epilepsy, and was replaced by Kenny Andrews. Without Hegarty, the energy of the band had faded, and they drifted off into other areas.
