Mexican Restaurant Serenade Trios
Help! What is that popular Spanish term for the trio of Mexican guitar-wielding musicians who stroll from table to table in restaurants serenading diners? They're typically dressed in sombreros, vests, etc. The term was very popular in the 80s, and it isn't "mariachi".

I know you're not after Mariachi but
found a website that said this about the smaller serenaders.:
The mariachi typifies Mexican popular music. The first mariachi bands appeared in the state of Jalisco in the eighteenth century. Mariachi bands are made up of eight players or more, with guitars, violins, trumpets, and a singer. They play on special holidays or at parties. Mariachis and smaller bands called Trios (a group of three people) also play "serenades", a very romantic type of song.
