Musical Youth?
Why do people tend to hark back to the music of their youth and prefer it? Is it because the songs remind one of happy, young , carefree times or was the music of the past generally better? (1970s in my case)

I'm sure many people look back with affection to times when they were happier, more carefree and had less responsibilities. Although some people decry the music of the 70s, whenever you watch old clips of the time, one thing is apparent. Everyone was enjoying themselves and having a damn good time! The artists are all smiling and so is everyone in the audience. Now, the artists all seem to glare into the camera and look like they're about to pull a knife or deal drugs. The youngsters in the audience all look so unhappy and just as intimidating or just plain bored as if they wish they were anywhere else but there.
It's the same with society in general. The 1960s and 70s were happy and carefree times when everyone had hope and a future. Those times have long gone and the faces of the music and the youngsters reflects that. Those of us who remember better times look back with affection.
