Why aren't cameras allowed in the court room, as they were for the murder trial of OJ Simpson?

That decision is made by the presiding judge. In this instance, the judge has decided that in-court cameras would create even more of a media circus than is caused by the cameras outside the courthouse. There is an allocation of just seven seats within the court for the media - issued on a rotation basis, and the car park outside has been portioned into speciofic spaces allocated to various media organisations.

The reason andy hughes gives are right. i think also a major factor not to allow cameras etc was because of the nature of the charges against michael jackson.

because his alleged crimes are against minors and children etc would be expected to give testimony it was felt the media intrusion would be too much.

OJ Simpson's trial involved adults unlike this one. in court cases in England it is actually illegal to name child victims of sex abuse
