Can anyone explain why I get such crappy low-fi audio when I import a separate soundtrack into a video I'm working on ?

I've tried using both wav and mp3 audio files to no avail, I've also tried muting the original sound track, saving it, bringing it back in THEN adding the sound track.

The sound I'm getting is like audio encoded at about 12kb/sec !

Looks like I need to ditch the load of old rubbish and go back to Sony Vegas.

I've just tried to re-create your problem, but my WMM (v2.6) seems to play mp3's with no noticable loss in quality.
What version of WMM is it, there are loads and they have very different feature sets.

Thanks for those Soc. and thanks for trying Naz/CF.
I think I'm just going to 'procure' Sony Vegas - it does much more anyway.
