Trance Music for the over Forties?
23 Answers
I simply cannot go to Heaven anymore. Me and my mates look just too old! But we still love trance and techno - so does anyone know of a club that plays that type of music (or Eighties and Nineties music) for a middle-aged crowd?

Thanks Vibrasphere - good idea. Yes, I meant London. I used to go to Heaven under the arches with my g/f in the 90s. I also need to find 80s/90s clubs (which my wife prefers). There's something not quite right seeing middle-aged people dance to trance surrounded by fit young people! We just don't fit in :(

I don't think you should let it bother you.
I am a music writer and attend loads of gigs. I used to be UK Writer for an extreme metal magazine in new York, so I would fetch up at plenty of seriously hard-core gigs.
I am fifty-six, little hair, glasses, dressed in jeans and a shirt and jumper. No tats, no piercings, no shaved sections of hair, no braidings, no combats, no boots, no beer (I'm teetotal) so i stand out like a Rabbi at a Christening.
And I feel as cool as anything!
It's obvious I am there for the music, not a late drink and a perv. - you should adopt the same approach. People are very tolerent when they are having fun, so just go with your enjoyment. Who wants to dance or jump up and down to bands with a load of old fogies?
Not me!

I agree with Andy, age should have no impact on the appreciation of music, whether its going to a club or a gig.
Any half decent club wont bat an eyelid at you, no matter what your age is, unless they have a strict door policy and only let in the young and beautiful. To be honest most clubs like that arent worth the effort.
I know loads of mature people who go clubbing, still go to Ibiza every summer and just love to go out and have fun. Clubbing is for all ages and most of the best Club DJ's are now in their fifties and still now to how to get a dancefloor buzzin'!
