Andy008: Don't know if this is what you're looking for but I hope it helps!!!! some people think this is based on a true story concerning Phil Collins past, but the stories vary. Some say it was a childhood friend whose parents died in a car crash, others believe it was written with his wife in mind. Yeah there are a few stories behind this song.  I understood it to be that during Phil's concert he invited this guy whom didnt save his brother from drowning many years before.  Apparently the spotlight pointed out this guy as Phil sang the song.

Im not 100% sure, but it was something freaky anyway.  Great song anyway.
