How do you see NATO ?
Why do you think it still exists?
Does it need renaming?
Would putting it under direct United Nations control give it more legitimacy?

NATO exists for a multitude of reasons not just to bomb the crap out of the Warsaw Pact. It must stay independent of the UN

No. UN troops are infamous for being the most ineffective in the world. Why get saddled with that tag?
Question Author
It would be NATO troops, not the UN Peacekeeping Force.
Duh simple..... on the United Nation Security Council there are 5 permanent members two of which are Russia and China, who have opposed NATO and NATO allied countries since the 50's, let's give them some control of NATO.... yeah right!!

The make up of a UN Peacekeeping Force is very strictly controlled to ensure parity among all nations
Question Author
I never suggested giving the Security Council control of NATO.

I would go with General Assembly approval by vote.

The UN will remain paralysed whilst China and Russia Veto everything.

Since the 1970's the US is far in the lead with United Nation vetoes and the UK has more vetoes than China:
