Do British Muslims Tacitly Approve Of Is?
41 Answers
If they believe that IS is a "perversion of Islam" and therefore they don't go to Paradise on death, this should be publicised in every mosque, school and in the Press.
It isn't, of course, and British Muslims can't deny that dead IS terrorists go to Paradise, while publicly denouncing their actions.
Is that approval in your book?

You might just as well suggest that because a Christian might believe they a killer could be forgiven his sins and go to heaven then it follows that all Christians condone murder
I don't think it is in the power of an ordinary Muslim to know that a person might not go to heaven for whatever reason

OK sandy, I've read your post
"I'd guess most British Muslims want nothing more than a quiet life. If a layman came out and criticise extremists he'd be putting his head above the parapet. There used to be a saying here, 'Whatever you say, say nothing'. It would be as good a piece of advice in Bradford as it ever was in Belfast."
Are you saying that among the millions of British Muslims, there is not a single one with the guts to speak up?

Some people here condemning terrorism.

Yes Sandy, as I have said, plenty of people condemning terrorism and IS atrocities.
But is there a single statement that these people are not going to enter their Paradise?
This is the acid test. IS and suicide bombers die believing they would enter Paradise
If anyone with some religious authority said this is not true in their case, there would be no incentive for them to commit suicide or to join IS
Check out the website you cited - loads of gratuitous condemnation, plenty of " they are not good Muslims" etc. but not one clear, straight statement.

Yes, lots more condemnation, but nobody talking about the central point.
Sunni and Shia condemn each other. In World wars 1 and 2, priests on each side told the soldiers that God was on their side. Nobody suggests that these fighters won't go to Heaven or paradise.
British Muslims are full of condemnation, but fail the acid test.
They say IS are not good Muslims, but their Imams don't say they are not Muslims, and so stand shoulder to shoulder with them.

Listened to Cameron's speech on extremism this morning?
Doubtless some AB ers will dismiss it as a rant?
But he is saying exactly what I have been derided for - from BBC website -
Cameron says the extremists do not represent Islam. But, because the Islamists self-identify as Muslims, we need to challenge them. And that needs help from Muslim communities, and from Muslim scholars who can say they are wrong.
It is right to say these people have nothing to do with the true nature of Islam. But that, on its own, is not enough. We need to go further, he says.//
I ask again, has any Muslim scholar said that IS fighters do not go to Paradise?
The Paradise promise is the main weapon in radicalising young people. Let British Imams take it away, or be identified as IS sympathisers?
