A woman who developed a foot complaint after taking part in a vaccine trial added 2 and 2 and made 5, blaming the vaccine.

Her resulting post went viral worldwide and was exploited by anti-vaxers and weirdo religious groups. One such group identified her symptoms as "the 'grievous sores described in [the book of] Revelation”.

Investigation revealed she was one of the "blind" members of the Trial Control Group only given a saline placebo, not the vaccine .

By which time the damage had been done. Also her Go-fund-me page had filled up nicely (It's in US where you have to pay for medical treatment).

Sozza - that was Dickens slang for what Sairie Gamp used to get ( spadgems that is!) - the placebo group got short of breath - -

Is it "misinformation"? Her GP says it's possibly a side-effect of the vaccine and i think you have to be wary about describing people with doubts or worries, as "anti-vaxxers". I think that's a different group of people.
If you compromise your immune system slightly, with a vaccine, isn't it possible that it might not fight off other things so effectively, at the same time?

No woof, but neither should a placebo. Surely the point of those, is to rule out changes in behaviour and thinking etc, so you know the difference is the vaccine? If there are no psychological differences in results, a placebo would have no use.
I don't know... I'm just wondering why placebos are used at all, if someone's beliefs can't make any difference?

Her symptoms are classic signs off a fixed drug eruption, which makes sense given that she has been on a high dose of Ibuprofen as she waits for spinal surgery.

It may well be, mamya... but it is also possible that someone taking a placebo, might get "an effect", because they don't know it's a placebo. It's the whole point of it.
