I haven't read the thread yet... but as far as the T&T system goes... it's pointless. My daughter got tested positive on a Monday and told me straight away (we live together). It wasn't until the Friday, when T&T decided to let me know there was someone with covid in my house.
LB, look after yourself, you know what is best for you x
I don't see the NHS overrun just now either. My sister and I have volunteered for 6 months in two local NHS hospitals, and there are free beds... the staff are busy, but coping.
NJ, I've got a fair memory, go back to the early days we were constantly told by Boris and his side kick Hancock, and everyone else at the time that the way out from this pandemic was TTT. Remember, it was going to be world beating. The death and infection rates speak for themselves .
Surprised at myself but i think we need temporary policing!! Proper law enforcement.
I think everything should close except from perhaps the big supermarkets that we can buy almost everything in & thr chemist/ Gps.......& if you cant wear a mask perhaps wear a visor.
aren't supermarkets open quite late, i don't know about waitrose but some seem to be open till 10pm, if there is a curfew how would you police it. would you shut shops earlier for example.
If everything was just SHUT there would be nothing to go out for hopefully. Streets would be dead and anyone who was out in a group easily identified by police and challenged?
In an ideal world. Just ideas really! Truth be told i just dont know if there IS a right answer xx :(
police already do stop and search which has been challenged as they appear to target mostly black people, or so it goes,
i don't have any answers either - we are all in the same boat
The tougher the measures are (coupled with proper enforcement) and the sooner they can be safely eased. There are already signs in the data that the current measures are having some effect -- it would make sense to build on this effect. Alongside the vaccination programme, which I understood should be accelerating from this week, there's reason for hope.
No. I believe they should be keeping a light touch with the rules. Protect the vulnerable and apply only such rules as necessary to keep hospital admission to a manageable level. All else is dictatorship and treating citizens' personal rights with disdain. At present it seem police are ignoring the rules and fining/charging anyone they feel they can push around as 'low hanging fruit' for the force records. It's a low point in our history, or will be.
I got one too :-). Tinks, the problem with shutting shops earlier, is it gives less time open, so you get more people going all at the same time. If anything, 24/7 shopping might be safer.
This is only a vague semi- lockdown though. The vast majority of people are still going to work, shopping, have a "bubble", childcare, schools are open... it seems to be strictest on a handful of people only.
