Releasing prisoners early to reduce over crowding in prisons is something Blair won't rule out. It may mean that dangerous criminals could be prowling our streets. The Prime Minister said; "All options are kept under consideration, all the time." Prison over crowding has been an impending problem for some time. Jan Berry, Chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales said: "The criminal justice system is failing the victims of crime, future victims of crime and the police service."

What is the solution to this problem? Should prisoners be released early to reduce over crowding or would this be failing victims of crime?

We already have dangerous criminals roaming the streets, Murderers, Rapists etc, who have been released early, and re-offended, i've given my answer in this link, and meant every word.

If sentences were more harsh and prisoners were made to serve their full terms, perhaps that would put criminals off committing crime in the first place and the overcrowding problem would be solved that way?
