Should Harman Keep Her Job?

Harriet Harman is soon to be summonsed for driving without due care and attention. Plus, if subsequently convicted by a Court, she would have some sort of criminal record and if that is the case, should she remain a Minister in a Government, albeit with a General Election looming?

Should people be allowed to still be an MP if they have a conviction of any kind?

My opinion is that such a trivial offence need not have to force her out of office - others may think differently?

She refutes driving without care and attention according to the news. It has been proven time and time again that reaction times whilst on the phone are severely diminished.

She broke the law so should be made an example of. These people are suppose to be in charge. Throw the book at her I say. What if people were in that parked car?

I don't personally regard crashing a large lump of metal, while talking on the phone, to be trivial; it's worse than a minor speeding charge, say. I wouldn't object if she lost her job as solicitor general, and as minister, if found guilty. But she shouldn't lose her job as MP until voters say so (which they may well do soon enough).

Harriet Harman has not been Solicitor General since 2005, a position she retained even though whilst in office she received a driving ban for speeding at 99mph...

...so I hardly expect any legal wrongdoing to impinge on her roles as Lord Privy Seal, Leader of the House of Commons and Minister for Women and Equality.

She is no better than anyone else yes she should lose her job she should show an example .These people in Parliment positions think they can do as they like and think they are a law unto themselves.What do you mean such a trivial offence? She could have killed someone.

I can't stand this women. I hate her with a passion that borders on irrationality. I can't stand the way the hatchet faced idiot kept on saying "its not the MPs fault, its the system's fault" over the expenses theft, I can't stand the fact she is an exponent of the 'do as I say, not as I do' hypocrisy by send her kids to schools way way out of area because the local schools, whislt good enough for everybody else, weren't good enough for her kids, I couldn't stand the way the silly *** wandered around in a stab vest in the middle of the day, I can't stand her ridiculous Equality Bill, which is anything but.....

Basically (you can probably tell) I can't stand her.

But should she lose her job for a motoring conviction?

But you're right a motoring offence is not a resigning matter.

I am a bit concerned about her "refuting the allegation" if she claims she wasn't on the phone and records clearly show she was - that could make things much more serious

she is a very important member of the government....

she is therefore too busy and important to have to bother with complying with the laws of the uk....

hopefully by the time this comes to court the general election will have taken place and we will be relieved of her for good
