How has this illegal immigrant managed to live in this country for 22 years, not only under a false identity, but also pretending she was white when it was obvious she wasn't?
Apparently she refused to give her proper name or from what country she came from to a court of law, I think in cases such as this she should have been given a stiffer sentence than the nine months she got.for the fraudulent use of a passport, after all she is in this country illegally.
She will no doubt serve about 5 months, then be allowed to stay in this country, so she and her partner, TV and film producer Tom Henderson, can live happy ever after.

You imagine a world in which everyone is black and white like the typescript on this page. It's seldom like that; 'white' people are often dark-skinned (and for your purpose I expect a suntanned Spaniard would be 'white'), 'black' people are often quite pale - 'high yellow' they used to be called in the States (by racists, mostly). There are plenty of examples of people misclassified under apartheid, and in pre-1960s USA.
I imagine you could tell them apart in an instant with your home-built raceometer, though?

something about it in my paper but it says the black woman had stolen the ID of the Mrs Keast, obtaining a copy of the Mrs Keasts birth certificate, and was obviously able to apply for a passport in that name. And had been using that passport to travel the world, over the last 15 years. Only until the original Mrs Keast came to renew her passport was the deception discovered. It also says that the Mrs Keast had been known by her married name, Payton, so no one caught on presumably.
jno ...this is not a matter of black and white, but a matter of Negroid and Caucasian.........a subtle difference. Her passport photograph was of Caucasian features and she had Negroid features.
Surely easy meat for passport control.
Another sarcastic final sentence for AOG
This is becoming your trade mark.....quite a nasty trademark.

it also says the bogus woman was only caught when coming back into Britain, by the immigration service, she has been given 9 months in jail. Whats galling is the defence is that the woman is suffering from depression and mental health fragilities, whatever that means.
Very few would know their ID had been hacked, its just too easy

<<<<THE scandal of an identity thief’s 22-year deception ended when immigration officers finally spotted that she was black and the woman she impersonated was white.>>>
I presumed that the immigration officers noticed the difference in the passport document.
I assumed so....possibly incorrectly.

I think the photo of the genuine woman appeared on screen at passport control.
Don't forget that to get on a plane you have to show your passport several times. It is usual to show your passport in some hotels, when hiring a car, or using a credit card abroad.
If she did have a passport with the white woman's photo, or any white woman's photo, somebody would have noticed before now.

What's that sqad, daring to comment on illegal practices, if they happen to be committed by a person with a dark skin, criticising our lax immigration controls, or the light sentences, that the courts hand out?
Please enlighten me.

Where does it say anything of the sort, Sqad?
As far as I can see from the reports, she used her own photo and someone else's name. It's only the Express, and aog, that have seen some relevance in the woman's colour. Or do you have another source of information?
