BBC's Question Time has often been accused of leaning to the 'Left', so does this come as any surprise?

Whether the BBC knew or not I dont know,wouldnt be at all surprised if they did but having seen that prog she is typical of the sort that will bring this country down, shed be more than happy if there wasnt a white left here.

Question Time's audiences are not unknown to contain "party activists" of different hues. It's a program about current affairs and politics to which people of committed political views are attracted.
As for the "scurrilous attack" what I saw was a perfectly reasonable question about the tactics used by UKIP and the Daily Express to manipulate the results of a Bulgarian Government poll.
In any case Diane James is a politician, well capable, I'd suggest, of looking after herself. Not some little old lady on the No 10 bus.
When I read nonsense like that I sometimes wonder if our press is any better than that of the Soviet Union at the time of the Cold War.

Anyway, queue the rants about the licence fee etc. etc. ...

well all she did was demonstrate that she had no valuid arguments so did what all EUphiles do in this situation, started name calling. I'd have thought the labour high command would have thought this was a bit of an own goal.

She was questioning Diane James about why the party had deceitfully used the figures from the Bulgarian poll to extrapolate that 4 million Bulgarians were coming to Britain. One doesn't need to be a Labour activist, or even a mathematician, to work out that it was a ludicrous conclusion.
I'm surprised you missed it if you saw the programme. And, oddly, it's missing from the Daily Mail's otherwise balanced piece.

The answer is in the link. The BBC selects people by their politics and background .If you have evidence that the purpose of this exercise is to ensure an audience of left-wingers or Labour activists, then please give it, but it seems more likely it's to comply with their charter.

There was a woman from UKIP on the panel. It is to be expected that her views will be challenged, and a questioner who has challenging to questions to ask will be called on. Otherwise, what is the point of having the programme?

Valid argument or not, that is not the point, the point is though that the personal attack was uncalled for, and it was to Ms Diane James's credit that she responded in the only way necessary.

I agree with ichkeria. I saw the program and didn't interpret the "disgusting" remark as a personal attack. Miss Rutland was addressing the party's tactics, not Diane James herself. She subsequently made a very fair point that went totally unanswered by the UKIP panelist.

Well it is not difficult to see that the BBC is a left wing organization, it was not known as Blairs Broadcasting Corporation for nothing.

Engaging in personal insults within politics is probably not a good idea on the grounds of civility and also because the actual point can be lost in all the sound and fury surrounding the insult.

What is very clear though is that the UKip candidate, Diane James, had been assiduously promoting the idea that 4 million or more Bulgarians would be heading our way in 2014. And to offer up such figures without any thought is scare-mongering; That figure would represent over half of the Bulgarian population, and a moments thought will tell you that it is extremely unlikely that such numbers will be knocking on our door. The figures actually came from a poll carried out by Bulgarian TV, where they asked if anyone was thinking of emigrating to other countries within the EU in persuit of a better future; they had a total of 4,000 online respondents ( no guarantee that each response was bulgarian, or even unique), where 54% of the respondents said they might. To extrapolate from that, as UKip did, and suggest that therefore 54% of the Bulgarian population were all preparing to emigrate, and all would migrating to the UK is either stupid or scare-mongering.
