Anyone any idea's? Sounds like maybe Dales area. Yorkshire Dales National Park & The Dales Way. Problem is there's so many other paths that are classed as having religious beginnings. You'll have to go the their website to view the image clue - a valley and river that looks Dales or North Yorkshire-ish.
Clue:
We had been following in religious footsteps along an historic, high-level path, threading our way via scars and crags. Now, we were about to head downhill for a swift pint in a village local with an avian feel. Afterwards, we followed one of the most iconic valleys in the National Park, picking up the long distance path that shares its name. Where were we? - See the image at:

Thanks for any help, I'll try to work out and post a grid reference answer from any idea's or locations suggested.

The clues are so sparse aren't they? There are probably many pubs with Avian sounding names all over the country. A typical example being The Plume of Feathers at Princetown on Dartmoor. Dartmoor is also a National Park and there's a pathway called The Dartmoor Way (although it is more of a cycle path). I'm also sure there's a river valley that some would call iconic, and due to the amount of crosses and other religious history of Dartmoor - probably old religious pathways and routes.
But I'm sure the clues and picture are of the Dales/North Yorkshire area, although I can't yet prove it. Just hope someone can recognise the valley so the search can be concentrated on one area. Besides the Dales NP / Dales Way & Dartmoor / Dartmoor Way, there's the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Maybe the Ridgeway dropping down towards the South Downs Way as The South Downs is also a National Park?
But I just think it looks like the Dales/North Yorkshire area for some unknown reason.
