Can Anyone Tell Me How Many Labour Peers Were Created In The 13 Years Of The Last Labour Government?

I know concerns were raised about the issue at the time but strangely (well not really) I have not been able to find out what the actual numbers were.

So, during the Blair/Brown governments, 1997 - 2010, 408 peerages were created, of which 173 were Labour = 42%.
During the Cameron/Clegg coalition government, 2010 - 2015, 117 peerages were created of which 71 were Conservative or Lib Dem = 61%.
It seems that the party/parties involved in government gives/give the lion's share of peerages to its/their own supporters.
Surprise, surprise! However, it appears that the lion's share is sometimes half as large again under some parties as it is under others! Time these concerns were addressed!

Every party has an incentive to get like minded peers into the second chamber. Which is why it should be fully elected not down to patronage.

Quite, OG, and I agree with you that any Upper House should be elected. However, I suspect - though I may be wrong - that the OP imagined Blair and Brown 'stuffed' the House of Lords with party supporters. On the contrary, the Tory/Lib Dem coalition created a much higher percentage of supportive lords than Labour did.
The current Conservative threat of cramming the HoL to get their legislation through is quite telling!
