An absorbing Christmas puzzle with clever use of the theme. I think I've submitted what they were looking for, but I'm happy I've incorporated all the elements.

Some obscure words and some fine clues in the mix, too. What's not to like? Thanks, Lionheart.

And before I forget, a Happy Christmas to all the regulars here!

Still some way to go with this but posting asking for a favour. I write an annual crossword for my friends and family, definitely sub-Listener in difficulty (I think) but some similar tricks. I wonder if anyone had a spare 30 minutes to do a test solve. If so please PM me at [email protected]

Many thanks and Merry Xmas to all!

Some really imaginative and deceptive clues and I think I know exactly what you are expected to submit (I don't, so I won't bother with the scissors) but I did have to read up  on the theme to get the precise details.

Thanks, Lionheart. Christmas greetings all round (even to the feathered interloper.)

Aother easy one Lionheart, ta.

I thought the puzzle was enjoyable ... until I embarked on the search for the five word meaning. Having spent some time deciding on what it could be, the penny finally dropped. This interpretation, I thought, was debatable and, perhaps, should have been four words instead. However, the final result is incontrovertible.

Thanks, Lionheart. A Happy Christmas to one and all.

Just to say I don't tend to contribute to these threads any more but I always read them with interest. Happy Christmas, all.  And I enjoyed this puzzle.

Cruncher, I'm always happy.
