Many people seem to be disillusioned with our politicians and the parties they represent, so a hypothetical question. What would happen if no one voted in an election?

They would hold another election with MORE political broadcasts in the run up as punishment to us for not voting.
Well the candidates would vote for themselves but even if they didn't the results would be a draw and the winner would be selected by the returning officer by lot.
Toss a coin innit?

Voter turnout is a disgrace in this country. In France last weke, their turnout was 85%.

I don't know if there's actually any constitutional procedure just in case - you'll always get at least some people voting.

My guess would be that the existing government would just carry on as is for another 5 years until they have to call another one...
No Kromo, there is provision for a draw, the number of votes is irrelevant. It would be a coin toss.
Well it would be an interesting one. Normally a very low turnout wouldn't deter the politicians from pressing on regardless, but in this instance, with EVERYBODY in the country declining to endorse any politicians, government in the traditional sense would be unviable. The queen could simply appoint a government, but that would be overturning the wishes of every single one of her subjects - and she couldn't even rely on the army to quell dissent since they would be 100% non-voters as well.
There is a campaign to get a "None of the above" listed on ballot papers.

Quite frankly all the parties are the same, they all bow down to the CEO's of multinational companies.

I tend to vote for independent candidates
Hmmm, if noone voted, then i would vote and vote for myself. Then i would win :)
Then you would see a lot of changes...
they would probably use it as an excuse to form a national dictatorship. with the lords as the executive
