I would dearly like to see what would happen if politicians stopped evading difficult questions and twisting facts to suit their own agendas and thirst for power and just told the truth.
Although if he did he wouldn't stay in power for very long. I'm sure there are many things that governments have to do behind the scenes that we'd all find unpalatable or downright immoral.

The thing is, he could offer a raft of things that would change my mind. But he'd be eschewing conservative principles to do that and alienating the right-wing and affluent Tory voters.
He could start by committing to the traditionally left-wing principles of tax-and-spend - of course he won't. The Tory voters in the shires don't want to be paying for allowances that mean the poorest inner-city children can get the bus to school or buy stationery. They want to keep all their money because they earned or inherited it. Which is fine. But I don't want to sign up to that. Because I live in a society, rather than an I'm-alright-Jack cocoon.
He could commit to a timetable for getting out of Iraq. Which I supect he might.
He could make it clear that he accepts the necessity of the UK being a willing member of the EU. It's an economic necessity and time the Little Englanders grew up about it.
I'd also like to see Dave dress up in his Bullingdon Club outfit every day like he did at Oxford. But then we all used to do that didn't we? Yes, he's certainly a man of the people.

Take a step back and offer a real alternative to labour.
Take a hard line on Europe with a view to withdrawing from the EU
Take a hard line on immigration, adopt a points system for asylum, close the border
Take a hard line on Government inefficiency
Raise Inheritance tax to say 500k, scrap stamp duty, increase personal allowances, scrap the progressive tax system and charge everyone 25% Income tax on salaries. Council tax to be calculated on earnings. Private healthcare costs to be tax deductable.
No benefits for those fit to work but refuse to.
Defence contracts to go to UK companies where practical.
This is sounding a bit UKIP-ish...?

Hi Naomi,
1) Withdraw completely from Europe, we can still trade.
2) No amnesty for illegal immigrants, find them, kick them
out.
3) Toughen up the rules for Assylum seekers.
4) Clean up the NHS, make it work, and only for UK
nationals.
5) Reduce income tax, and get more people back to work.
more people working, more tax coming in.
6) Get rid of Inheritance Tax.
I could go on to number 50, but that will do.

Hi NJOK,
It is not an economic necessity to become a willing member of the EU. These 'little Englanders value many of their traditions for the benefit of all people of the UK. Only 16% of our economic activity is with the EU and even this in decline. Also, we have more overseas assets than all the other EU countries put together.

He could start by sorting out the immigration situation, to many illegals, get rid of them, make our immigration laws the same as USA or Canada, no more overseas aid untill drugs that are to expensive for the working class are made available to them, our old age pensioners are paid a pension that is linked to earnings, when we have got our own house in order, we can then help others. he could save us a few billion by getting our troops out of Iraq,
Well I have hated Blair, Brown and Prescott being in power, and have never voted Labour.
Over the years my votes have swung betwen Tory and Lib/Dems (not a great fan of lib dems but I vote for them if I dont want to vote Tory)
But I have to say that currently I could not bring myself to vote for Cameron.
He seems a upper class liberal type and I dont not think it is what the UK needs at the moment.
When Maggie got in the UK was in a right mess (strikes, union power, rubbish piling up on the streets, we were a nation in a mess).
She was strong and helped us get into the position we are in today.
We need another STRONG leader.
Someone who will take on the EU (or even take us out of it).
We have had enough people from Poland and Romania here thank you.
Someone who will realise what a major problem hard drugs are (crack, heroin etc) and how they make everyones life hell. Life imprisonment for ANYONE dealing in drugs.
Someone who will come down hard on illegal immigrants and fake asylum seekers.
Someone who will stop giving away our money cheaply (over 6 BILLION in tax credit overpaid, massive fraud by organised gangs and immigrants from Eastern Europe who are not entitled to it)

Perhaps he's harking back to the days of the Dangerous Dogs Act...
Cameron seems pretty useless to me, I'm afraid, so there's little chance my vote would be for him.
Though it would be conceivable if he made it illegal for a cyclist to retaliate in any way whatsoever if fly-kicked off his/her bike (women and children? Oh, no, they get all the breaks. Spare no one.)

I've always disagreed with the core values of the conservative party.
They exist to further the interests of business and existing wealth and privilege, over the interests of the individual.
Cameron himself has a background of wealth and privilege that means he can have little conception of what it means to live the sort of life that most of us do.
This has never been as clearly shown as in their total opposition to the minimum wage - when the poorest people in our society conflict with comercial interests the Conservatives will back the business interst to the hilt
They would have to disavow these core principles to even come close to attracting me - but then they wouldn't be Conservatives anymore would they?
