What is a Paraplanner?
2 Answers
Hi guys, Hope you all had a nice weekend. A few weeks ago, I was made redundant, as the boss is moving the business up north. I have until the end of the month to find alternative employment, and am finding this a bit difficult. We currently share our office with a Financial Advising company, and I have got to know the staff and Director fairly well. Last week, this Director called me into the office and said he understood I was looking for a new job and that he was looking for a trainee Paraplanner. He didn't really explain what this entailed, other than that it's basically a PA to the financial advisor and that you can make ALOT of money in it. He asked me if I'd be interested in this, and said that he'd pay for me to train and take all the necessary qualifications. This is a fantastic opportunity for me, as I haven't been to University (not my thing and didn't want the debt) and I have been finding it difficult for companies to give me a chance without a degree. I would ideally like to do something creative, with my ideal jobs being a Buyer, Visual Merchandiser or Events Organiser. So this would be a big shift in my career direction. I would need to be comitted and take time to study for these exams, so there is quite alot to think about! I just wondered if anyone is, or knows what a Paraplanner does, and could explain a bit more about the job. I know nothing about mortgages, penisons, insurance, but the Director says this is not a problem. I'd just like to know what I'm letting myself in for really. Sorry for blabbing on! Thanks!
