White supremacist murderer is BNP supporter.
A white supremacist who shot dead a security guard at Washington's Holocaust Museum had links to the British National Party.
Before launching the attack, 88-year-old James von Brunn sent out an email claiming: 'It's time to kill all the Jews.'
Von Brunn was shot and wounded by museum security officers after he walked into the packed tourist attraction and began firing indiscriminately.
Last night, it emerged that von Brunn had attended meetings of the American Friends of the British National Party in Arlington, Virginia.

Should the BNP choose its friends more wisely now it has MEPs?

Or is freedom just a one-way thing?
Oh, it's fine for lefties to protest at the far-right but when an white supremacist shoots a Jewish sympathiser in the chest with a gun, everyone says it's unacceptable.
Double standards.

I would have thought that all political parties in the 'democratic world' should distance themselves from these sorts of people and choose their friends carefully.
In a truely democratic world you could say what you like without fear of stigmatisation or retribution.
However their are limits to what should be said. Such as incitement to harm or abuse others. You should be free to say what you like within the limits of the laws of the country you live in and accept any lawful punishment for transgressing those laws. Yes I know that's a bit of a joke in this country but hay,, we just don't do justice properly anymore.
The BNP should be given the same democratic right to say what they do as, say, hard line Muslims are.
I believe they got into power not because people believe in the way they operate or anything like that but as a show of disgust at the inability of the present government and perhaps the rest of the political parties to listen to how the average person feels.

Quinland - eh? Since when was murder a democratic right - what ever the motive?
So called Lefties protesting against the far-right is in a different league to a member of the far-right murdering someone in a holocaust museum.
And no I do not support what the protesters did to Nick Griffin, they have been elected and should be allowed a platform to speak. As Nick Griffin said, if they are so evil expose them, which by letting them speak I believe will expose them for what they are fascist.

UKIP have a pretty identical immigration policy to the BNP.
The difference is the BNP are a bunch of vicious xenophobes who pick on British people who happen to be black or Asian.
Immigration is a smokescreen.
If you're concerned about immigration vote UKIP
If you're a racist moron vote BNP

I'm quite astounded at some of the opinions stated on this particular question but more so that they have been allowed through. Earlier this week on the TV section I asked a question about the" Likely Lads" programme and referred to the James Bolam character describing the French as "greasy" and that was banned.
>That's because BNP voters are either racists or too
>stupid to understand.
Wheras voting Labour in the last couple of elections was such a clever thing to do wasn't it.
They have bankrupt the country, have fiddled their expenses (as have MPs from all parties), allowed rampant immigration, have probably the worst PM ever in charge, and have MPs leaving the cabinet in droves and denouncing their current leader.
I think people should be more embarrsssed in saying they voted labour than in saying they voted BNP.

In fact I was amazed at the MPs on Question Time last night with their holier-than-thou denoucement of the BNP.
This is from a bunch of people who have had the nerve to claim expenses for all sorts of things the rest of us have to pay for.
People who have avoided paying tax, claimed twice for many things and lied on their expense claim forms.
And they then have the nerve to critisize other people who were elected in a democratic election.
Funny how they are all now running scared.

Is Quinlad's answer some kind of tongue in cheek joke that I don't get?
I'm not surprised this murderer has attended a pro BNP meeting, but I think even Nick Griffen might raise eyebrows about his shooting dead a security guard at the Holocaust museum, well, I hope so anyway.
I really do not understand the far rights continued anti- semitism and wonder why they hate the Jews with such vehemence in this day and age. (Not that I ever saw any point to it in the past, I might add.)
