Would youlike to see a debate on tele with the main parties?
I think I would, because at this moment in time, I haven't a clue who I would vote for in a GE,
They were all in it up to their neck with the Expenses,
GB is very weak and takes forever to come out and make a statement as in Lockerbie!
David Cameron comes over as the old Etonian, which he is of cause, and I think to get the country out of the enormous debt, everyone would suffer but predominatley the pensioners, I thing he will stop the Winter fuel payment and also the free travel, which admitingly has been abused!
Nick Clegg??? I can't say I have heard much of what his party would do in power and I would be interested to hear, but I would say , putting Vince Cable up on that stage would work a lot better for the Liberals
I want someone to tell me, 'Look this is going to have to happen' whoever gets in, we will suffer greatly because of a certain Chancellors o.t.t borrowing

Brown has always suffered because of his dour image, and his patent lack of communication skills. Cameron comes over as too 'posh' - the best communicator in the House in my view is William Hague - a man who was given the chance too early, and who should seriously think about taking over the Tory Party again.

I agree with you andy about William Hague, too much , too soon.
Surely the one who gives the best performance would be the most charesmatic, therfore, be ablt to deliver a speech/manifesto that at least sounds plausible.
A change sqad...yes, but do you think pensioners would lose out with a Tory Goverment, I say Tory because as yet, the Liberals have broken through to be a main contender, Lofty, VC for PM, we could do a helluva lot worse!

We are exactly *not* sufferring now because of GB's borrowing.
That money hasn't been put on a huge bonfire it's gone into the economy, bringing forward capital projects and supporting the financial sector.
Without it the economy would have totally collapsed as would the banks, foreclosing on businesses and mortgages.
This spending is exactly what every other major country has done - be very glad Ozzy wasn't at number 11 without this public spending many of us here wouldn't have jobs or houses.
And I think most of us know who we'll vote for.
Apart from me - being in the speakers constituancy leaves me with the choice of him or UKIP.
I never thought I'd see the day that I'd vote Tory but because of that constitutional irony it looks like it might just happen.

You're right Bobbiesox - but the ability to deilver a speech in a way that wins an audience is no guarentee that the manifesto being delivered is either honourable, or even desireable - Adolph Hitler illustrates my point perfectly - wonderful orator, the people on his side, promised an end to all their problems ... lost it a bit at the actual implementation stage!
Usual lefty bigoted drivel from Jake I see.
to answer the question, no I dont believe anything is gained by televised debates.
Just because someone is a good orator does not make them a good leader. Take Hitler for example, could have people eating off his hands, but a good leader? (ok some would say so perhaps)
