I think they have demonstrated to an immensely disapointed electorate who did vote for them that they are totally unsuitable for power. You can't fight an election on a manifesto and then U-turn on just about every aspect of it just because you realise that the only way you'll ever attain government is by leaping into bed with David Cameron. People know what the Conservatives are and many people voted Lim Dem in an effort to keep them out- they never expected in their wildest dreams for this scenario of lap dogging for the Tories to take place.People will never trust them ever again.

If they actually had any power in this government you could criticize them . As it is the reason they cannot realise their policies is that not enough people voted for them in the first place.

I think you will find that you will now see a rise in a large proportion of the electorate swinging towards a political party ( I know not which) who say they will be in favour of an English policy to look after the interests of the English.Whether this will be a good thing I don't know

The Lib-Dems never, ever expected to be in power, so why not, promise them the earth.

Now due to the short sighted electorate who voted for the Independent Parties including the Green Party from Brighton, we had a situation of no overall majority.

"Fill yer boots boys, we will have some of this" and the Lib-Dems took their chance to get a bit of the "real action".............................now this was a different "Ball Game"
People thought Vince Cable was a safe pair of hands compared to Osborne (Public School twit), Clegg in the TV interviews came across as young, popular, media attractive...........and "wham bang" the Cons/Lib Dem Coalition was formed to run the country.

Now, boys, the reality of Politics.

Don´t blame the Politicians, blame the Electorate.

Agree with Sqad. Basically voted Lib Dem because we had a brilliant Lib Dem MP in N. Norfolk (Norman Lamb - who has worked hard for us). I believe in voting for your local MP. He got in - he always does. Now our part of North Norfolk has been allocated to Broadland (we are nowhere near Broadland!! but it evens up the numbers apparently) and we have an awful old stodgy Con. MP who never shows his face.

So not only was I one of those that contributed to this awful coalition, I don't even have a decent MP anymore.

I think what whiskery ron writes can very well happen I would like to think it will but I don't think that the Leopards that are meant to be running the country on our behalf are "fit for purpose" so it looks as though we need another party based on common sense as all the solutions to the problems we face have common sense answers.
Does"The Common Sense Party" have a ring about it

As the General Election gave no party an absolute majority in the House of Commons either a minority government or coalition was inevitable. As the third largest party the Lib/Dems would obviously feature heavily in the formation of a new government. There were basically four options: (a) agree to support a minority Labour administration on a supply basis (b) form a coalition with the Labour party (c) agree to support a minority Conservative administration on a supply basis (d) form a coalition with the Conservative party. The maths virtually ruled out a and b, leaving only c and d. The advantage of d over c is that it gave them cabinet seats and the salaries attached thereto. Such, I am afraid, is the brutal truth of our political system. Are those erstwhile Lib/Dem supporters who bemoan the coalition with the Tories saying that they would have been much more comfortable with Labour? If so, why not vote Labour in the first place! If, God forbid, we should ever go down the road of AV, then this will not be merely a blip on the political spectrum, but the stuff of everyday politics.
