Awful Editorial practice?

It would appear that one cannot post freely on this site anymore as I have just had another perfectly reasonable post removed by what passes around here for an editor. I'm not going to do a flounce, theyre pointless but it's one of the reasons that this site is dying and losing members who contribute intelligently every day. Does anyone else find that the editorial team are really random in the exercise of their powers and seem to want the site to simply be full of non debating drivel with silly polls and pointless questions about what your favourite jam is etc etc etc ad nauseum? I find I post less and less as the site degenerates.

any idea why your post was removed? (I didn't see it.)
I agree with you 100%
stay around nox.............. some genuine posters may well benefit from your advice.
On has never been able to post freely on this site...it has and always has had rules...since the eds aren't robots there will always be an element of randomness in the editing....If you don't like it then don't stay....
Woof - It's never been as bad as this.
by and large when posts get removed or people suspended, there's a reason. It may not be a great reason. It may prove only temporary (which I guess is why ummmm is back). But I've never seen it truly random. I have no idea what it was in this case.

I find the site pretty claustrophobic at the moment with an almost intnentional dumbing down of posts because by definition anything interesting is bound to lead to debate, often the more interesting the more heated. I'm not talking about the troll issue where people just appear in whatever guise to stir other users up and become offensive, but a degree of disagreement is bound to occur on any forum and to try to police that out of existance makes the whole site pretty pointless.

any debate is healthy but when it degenerates into name calling the Editorial team , surely has to be seen to do something, I don't know of the post removed content NOX
so I can't say I understand why.
from what I've seen (and I have no way of reading the editor's mind), what gets removed is (a) personal abuse; (b) strongly objectionable material (racial or sexual slurs in particular); (c) argumentative stuff in sections other than CB, Religion and News, which are the sections mostly made for it; and (d) occasionally, libels and contempt of court and so on. I don't know if your removed post fell into any of these categories.

Careful Trimer you called us ' dross' that surely is a hanging offence in these here parts. Of course it's a question and answer site, but no question can be answered with general accord by everyone and disagreements are bound to occur. These can frequently be the most informative in the big scheme of things, and some of the ' dross' actually do have brains you know.
I don't have a problem with it and tend to agree with jno. I find I'm posting less in CB because I'm getting bored of seeing the same people sniping at each other.
Going by my answers removed on Sunday jno...

e) absolutely no reason at all.
I go to CB to amuse myself....no wait that's why i come to AB at all......

cd, has a valid point, but maybe some post are more acceptable on a quiet wednesday morning................ ie. are any posts better than no posts ?
my post about my post wasn't Anne....:-O))))))
The Ed's have repeatedly explained what is and isn't acceptable
and there are perfectly good debates in some subjects but some posters push the boundaries... for fun I expect most of the time and fall foul of the suspend button
