Have we enough troops to police this carnage also?

Or is the real reason that the other African countries would not allow UN intervention?.

That is interesting Whickerman, back in 2010 it was announced that Britain would back any United Nations-led military action.

In view of recent evens, I wonder if this still holds true?

Cameron has toned down his rhetoric. Not surprising because Gaddafi is still there in charge andf likely to be there for some considerable time. It has learnt us one thing. Attack planes by themselves can never remove a dictator. It was obvious to most people that a rag tag army maybe measuring about 200 rebels is not sufficient to take on an army the size of Gaddafis.

Therefore to embark on another no fly zone is just a waste of money. Let the Africans get on with it!

So now we have stalemate. We could put things right by withdrawing all the planes and missiles and get Gaddafi round the table for talks.

This does underline the 'selective' approach that the UN - and the British and American governments seem to have to the policy of 'intervention'.

History is supposed to advise of where he have been, in order to avoid making the same mistakes over again.

After Viet Nam, this is a lesson we apear not to have learned at all.
