Chris Hulne is fighting for his political career over allegations he was caught speeding in 2003 and asked his then wife to take the rap for him which she allegedly did, yet now they are divorced she has decided to tell this to Essex police?
She was happy enough to do this 8 years ago for him, should she, herself not be done for
perverting the cause of justice?
he says now he can't 'remember' who was driving the car!
Is thee no end to how MPs can flout the law?

I've taken points for a pal, and I suppose the Police will be trying to track me down, and randomly arresting anyone who runs along the seafront, just to see if it's me!

The difference is 8 years ago she was in love with the man and would have happily lied to stop him losing his licence. Many women do the same.

It would appear that he no longer has that hold over her, and she is now prepared yo get into trouble herself to get him into trouble. Many couples who break up acrimoniously drop their ex-partners in it if they can, whether they are men or women, so the woman scorned angle is a bit over hyped.

I expect there will be quite a few people around the country uncomfortable with the publicity this story is getting, because they have had other people take points on their license for them.

Women get revenge in all sorts of ways when dumped/scorned (or whatever) by their man. This is one of the milder ways she could have got at him. He ought to think himself lucky she isn't a violent woman. lol

There isn't anything to be gained by it, but then vengeful people don't always think about the consequences of their actions until it is too late.
I have little knowledge of the whole business in question apart from the headlines (haven't actually read the story) and have no idea if there are any children involved (or their ages).

Whatever the truth how now can it be proved , its her word against his, especially something that happened 8 years ago. What is she going to gain ?. The points have now gone from her licence I think they last 5 years.
Her pound of flesh could contain a perversion charge.

I personally don't care who was driving the car, it's the sheer vindictiveness applied, and as JJ points out, the tax payer will have to foot the bill of the woman
