That really sets a good example doesn't it, only serving four and a half months of a 18 month sentence. for falsely claiming more than £22,000 of taxpayers' money.

I love the DM & gossip. Who needs pseudo intellectual Guardian/FT/Times/Telegraph. I dont need to read of world affairs I cant change & get enuf on TV.

It's not about being 'fair' it's about the tarrif for fraud sentences, which have to be seen to be applied fairly.
The law does not enter into the minutia of whether people think that one fraud is more deserving of a stiffer sentence than another, there would never be any judgements if they went down that road.
The sentence may be lenient, but it is the current sentence, until Parlianment changes it.
