Why are the Government so keen to get rid of analogue broadcasts and make us all use digital TV's etc? What difference does it make to them?

Maybe it's because they think they'll make 10 billion selling off the old analogue frequecies...

Because the more TV crammed into people's houses, the more media coverage they get.  Also, the more brain washed joe public become!
Because you have to press the 'red' button to access interactive services, which conditions people to vote labour.
It's because analogue broadcasting is fantastically wasteful, using loads of power to (almost) indescrimately (sp?) beam the signals any/everywhere. It also needs loads of bandwidth for a few channels. Digital is effictively the opposite, giving more choice and irradiating less people living near the broadcast site (if you're the type of person who's worried by this).
There's also the cash to be earned by selling off the old frequencies, that's true. However, I'm pretty sure it'd happen regardless of which party was in power because it's progress in the right direction and makes good sense.
Because the mobile phone companies want the waveband that analogue TV is on at the moment.
