At last Brucie has his knighthood, but why did these deserve an award?

Especially the other two 'Goodies' who have now received their OBEs 8 years after the 3rd Goodie Bill Oddie received his.

But former basketball star John Amaechi, takes the biscuit, he doesn't even live in the UK. could it be because he became the first openly gay NBA player after coming out in 2007.?

John Amaechi - For services to Sport and to the Voluntary Sector.
John Amaechi - for being gay but at least having the decency to leave the country before admitting it? The citation doesn't say so, though, so perhaps it's something else.

The Goodies, I'm sorry, I haven't a clue. I would have thought Monty Python had a better claim. And why it's taken nearly 40 years for Bryan Ferry to get one I don't know.
Ferry's son, Otis, is a thug. Don't know if that delayed the dad's gong, though.
"The Goodies, I'm sorry, I haven't a clue. "
Nice one, for those who remember Tim Brooke-Taylor in that show.
could be, sandyRoe, or could be that weird gaucho outfit he wore on stage in the mid 70s counted against him.
I don't know much about the other winners... Tim Brooke-Taylor? has he done anything since the goodies?

...But Brucie is a well deserving of his Knighthood I agree AOG.

isn't it nice for him , nice for him it's ....!

I wonder if the Queen said "Nice to Knight you, to Knight you nice"

... It's called fun.
What do you give the Queen for a present on her birthday, I wonder?

What does everyone get on their birthday?

A year older!

Apparently the Duke of Edinburgh received a pair of ear defenders for his 90th birthday.

I would have thought at 90 one would need a hearing aid.

Graeme Garden deserves his gong as writer for "Clue" and "Hamish & Dougal.
They are dictated by "quotas" these days..
Utterly meaningless but well done Brucie...Didn't he do well....Lower than a King?
I fail to see why Forsyth got the knighthood..............it's about 40 years since I found him remotely entertaining.
Ex Eastender actress Brooke Kinsella has an award for all she has done for the awarness on Knife crime.
I don't think the two Goodies deserved a mention it's years since they appeared together, Brian Ferry ditto his son is an activist- in other words a bl**dy nuisance and there are other musicians who are more deserving than Ferry.. Ok so Brucie has finally got some recognition, hasn't he already got an award? Hope he now pulls up the drawbridge and stays at home. I think the awards system is now devalued, only the really deserving heros or hard working selfless indiviuals should get a gong.no because you can run jump or appear on TV and get paid a bundle anyway.
I've always respected Graeme Garden, even as a 'Goodie' I was only a kid at the time but well believe he deserved his, but ask again Tim Brooke-Taylor. why?
Apparently, Tim Broooke Taylor is on the same charity golf circuit as Brucie.
Hamish & Dougal: Trapped

The knighthood system isn't very fair. Eric Sykes has contributed more to the entertainment industry then Bruce Forsyth and the Goodies put together, why hasn't he been honoured ?
